With the FHL UK Cup competition nearing it’s dramatic final stages it is time to release details on this year’s FHL UK Shield competition.
As mentioned in the post earlier this year (added at the bottom of this page) the competition is a mixture of league and knockout cup games over a number of gameweeks. This year we have 252 fantasy teams entered all of whom have a chance of claiming the coveted FHL UK Shield. If your team didn’t manage a lengthy cup run in the FHL UK Cup then don’t worry as every team will be involved for six gameweeks in the FHL UK Shield.
The competition will begin in gameweek 16 in the first week of 2022. All teams will be randomly drawn in to 63 groups, with four teams in each. Over the next six gameweeks each team will play the others in their group twice with that gameweeks points score deciding the winner and loser. The winning team will get three points and the loser none. The usual tie-break deciders stated in the rules will apply if it is a tie.
After gameweek 21 the team with the most points in each group will go through to the next round. The team with the most points who finished second in their group will then join the 63 other group winners in the knockout rounds. Any ties across the groups will be decided by the total gameweek scores from gameweek 16 to 21.
The 64 teams will then be randomly drawn into 32 games with the winner being the team with the highest score in gameweek 22. The winners move onto the next round and it is a knockout cup competition till we have one team remaining.
The draw for the group stages will be released the week before the competition is due to start.
