We previously did a team selection review after the first third of the season so you could see who were the most selected players overall and for each position (linked below). We are now around two thirds of the way through the season so are refreshing the data to see which players have been traded in more than others.
It is also time to start to think about using up your remaining trades, if you have any left, so we have added in tables highlighting the top fantasy scorers so far this season.
Team Selections
Starting with the goalies, we can see the top 10 below and it’s no surprise that Tyler Beskorowany is now the most selected goalie in the game with over a third of teams having him in their starting line-up. He’s currently the top scoring goalie by over 100 points and has taken over from CJ Motte who was the most selected goalie at the start of December.
If you are looking to trade for a difference maker then maybe Mac Carruth could be the answer with him being selected in less than 12% of teams despite having the second most points in the game. Other goalies not currently in the top 10 scorers but who are set for plenty of game time are Shane Starrett and Jason Bacashihua from Glasgow and Manchester respectively.
In defence we have Evan Mosey who is by a long way the most selected player in the whole game. Nearly half of teams already have him in their starting line-up and he is the top scoring defenceman by 90 points. Being priced at a reasonable 6.5M he is a must have for all teams. Surprisingly in second is still Ben O’Connor despite him no longer playing in the league. The biggest mover in the top 10 is Jamal Watson from Guildford, who has now scored the third most points among defenceman. His team owned percentage has gone up by 6% over the last few months.
If you are looking to make a move up the league standings then Daine Todd could be the answer as he has scored the fourth most points amongst defenceman but is only owned by less than 12% of teams. If he is a bit too pricy at 8.5M, then JC Brassard or Nathanael Halbert could be another option for just 5.5M each. Both are in the top scoring defenceman and Halbert is owned by less than 6% of teams.
Up front Brodie Reid is still the most selected despite cooling off slightly after his fast start and his percentage owned by has gone up by another 4% since the last review. The biggest movers are the Belfast duo of Scott Conway (up 6%) and top point scorer in the whole game JJ Piccinich (up 8%). Not currently in the top 15 of selections is their linemate David Goodwin, despite him being the sixth top points scorer amongst forwards. Anthony DeLuca, Darcy Murphy and Brendan Connolly have all had a drop in ownership with not currently playing and Marc-Olivier Vallerand is the only other significant mover with an increase of 4% in ownership.
If you are looking to trade for a points scorer with little ownership then maybe Adam Brady (12%), Martin Latal (13%) or Charlie Combs (13%) could be the answer. Out of the top 15 forwards in scoring the biggest surprise is in form Mark Cooper from Belfast who is currently owned by just three teams. With him building good chemistry with Ben Lake and priced at just 7.5M he should be one of your top targets to bring in.
Most Valuable Players
Obviously not every team is going to have unlimited amounts of spare cash to bring in the most expensive players. Therefore we’ve looked to see which players are the best value in the game and have added a list who give you the most points per million. These are generally the low-mid priced players who are scoring a lot of points.
We’ve already mentioned Scott Conway, JJ Piccinich and Evan Mosey so it’s no great surprise that they are the most valuable players as well. Others who might have slipped under the radar are Ian McNulty who is priced at just 6.0M, Lewis Hook at 5.5M, Cameron Critchlow at 6.0M and Josh Waller at 4.5M. All these players are consistently putting up scoring and can be traded into your team for a relatively small price.
All the numbers above are based upon a players score for the whole season so far, however it is important to note that players are unlikely to be consistent across the whole season. Hot and cold streaks will happen for individual players as well as Elite League teams and being able to trade for those players hitting form will see you rise up the table quickly. As a reminder each players individual scores per gameweek are on the website via the below link.
