The results from the round of 16 are now complete and are below. In the ties we focused on last week it was FHL UK Cup champions “Oeppen” who moved through to the next round by nearly 50 points over “BrentGretzkysLeftFoot”. A strong week from Jake Bolton on the blue line proved to be the difference maker.
Elsewhere we predicted the closest tie of the round would be ”1-0, Cole Sanford, up the devils, COME ON” against “Blocked Capitals” and we weren’t wrong with just 1.6 points separating the teams. A slightly better captains pick from Joe Cook was the difference as he picked Brodie Reid (56 points) over Scott Conway (34 points).
In the last 8 we have four fantastic ties with our last two FHL UK Cup Winners playing each other. In our last full season in 2018/19 it was “Lizzie’s Lions” who were our champions, and they now play this years cup champions “Oeppen”. Lizzie’s Lions are now into the top 10 in the league table and coming off a huge week so it should be a very close tie with captains picks Jake Coughler (Oeppen) and Michael McNicholas (Lizzie’s Lions) being very important.
In the third tie we have “Hard to Yandle” and “The Flying Puckhits” playing each other who both scored over 400 points last week and were separated by just 2 points. The goalie match-up could give a big points discrepancy with Motte and Whistle between the pipes for “Hard to Yandle” and Carruth and Owen for “The Flying Puckhits”.
