The FHL UK team made our pre-season predictions just before the season started. Having scouted the teams thoroughly here is how we thought the league standings would finish at the end of the season.
Now the comparison with the actual finishing position is below and although we weren’t far off we still had a few fairly significant differences. The first was that we were fairly certain Sheffield would be league winners, however injury issues and a lot of change on their roster meant they finished a comfortable second place. They finished behind a Belfast team who had the Piccinich/Conway/Goodwin line which outperformed everyone’s predictions, including ours.
From fourth down to eighth was very close in the final standings, so our other big “miss” was the form of Manchester this year who we had finishing fifth. In reality they finished ninth and a long way back from making the playoffs in eighth. An injury to Matt Ginn meant he played very few games and goals against were a big problem. Up front bringing in high priced forwards Wade MacLeod, Curtis Hamilton and Frankie Melton didn’t pay off.
Did anyone else do better than us? Let us know if so.
