With all the games complete in gameweek 12, the scores for the final of the FHL UK Cup are now complete, unless there are minor gamesheet changes by the Elite League before we move to gameweek 13 at midnight on Tuesday.
Our winner by a comfortable margin is “Royals” managed by GM “Stuart”. Under a lot of pressure in his first cup final, the team actually scored the most points in the whole game. Let’s look how this happened and how “Royals” made a mockery of the FHL UK predictions.
Firstly, “Royals” made a number of trades prior to the final, bringing in Jackson Whistle for Shane Owen, Sam Jardine for Sam Jones, Cole Sanford for Peyton Frantti, Gary Haden for Daniel Tedesco and Gabriel Chabot for Matt Myers. All these changes gained “Royals” a huge 53.5 for the gameweek with the Chabot trade making 35 points on its own.
“Hard to Yandle” made just the one trade, bringing in Jonas Emmerdahl for Kris Inglis. This gave the team an extra 25 points. However, the tie was lost with a lack of scoring up front with Brandon Whistle, Daniel Ciampini, Jesper Ohrvall and Daniel Tedesco not picking up any points this week. Captain Scott Conway picked up just the one assist but both teams went for the same captains pick this week.
We highlighted the difference makers up front in our preview and Kim Tallberg (35 points) and Zack Phillips (17 points) made a huge difference for “Royals”.
Congratulations to Stuart and his team “Royals” on being our FHL UK Cup Winner 2022/23. The FHL UK admin will be in contact once the gameweek has finished to arrange the trophy presentation.
