While we had a quieter week on the ice with the international break it coincided with lots of activity off the ice on transfer deadline day. Here is a list of signings since our last update –
Niko Lahtinen
With a number of departures from their forward group, the Nottingham Panthers needed to bring in some fresh faces and they managed to bring in two players from across Europe. Niko Lahtinen spent most of his career in his native Finland until he ventured to into Austria last year to play in Linz. Scoring at nearly a point per game shows he has good offensive instincts and he has initially played wing alongside Mike Hammond, which should give him plenty of scoring opportunities. He is added into the game with a 7.0M value.
Jakub Izacky
Joining Lahtinen is Czech forward Jakub Izacky who has been playing in Hungary for the last five seasons putting up 1.12 points per game. With a number of changes across the Nottingham forward lines it might take some time for Jakub to settle in, but they need production straight away with the playoffs not far away now. He is added into the game with a 7.5M value.
Carl Ackered
Sheffield have moved to bring in a familiar face to fans of the Elite League. Former Guildford Flame Carl Ackered moves back to the league after spending a couple of years in Austria and Slovakia. We know what we are going to get with Ackered, and that is offence from the blueline. Based on his passed exploits with Guildford we are giving him a 10.0M value.
Matt McLeod
It is a similar story in Belfast where Matt McLeod has been signed to cover a number of injuries on the roster. Matt joins after spending this season with Cincinnati of the ECHL where he production has dropped slightly since he put up 40 points the season before for the same team. However three goals in his first two games mean he could be one to watch. He is added into the game with a 7.5M value.
In other news Stefan Fournier only stopped in the UK for a brief spell as he has signed back in the ECHL with Wichita.
