Now that the season has started we can now release the plans for the FHL UK Cup competition this year.
We have 341 teams signed up for this season and all are entered into the cup draw which makes it the biggest cup competition we have ever had.
The FHL UK Cup competition will start on Wednesday 3rd October when we move into week 3. With having so many teams we need to have a qualifying round to get the right number of teams for the first round. Every team will have at least one tie. Details on the all important draw will be on our social media channels shortly.
Here is a round-by-round overview –
Week 3 (Qualifying round) – the top 171 teams in terms of weekly points score from week 2 will automatically get a bye in to round 1. Therefore the other 170 teams will be randomly drawn into straight knockout ties decided by the points scored in the week. The winning 85 teams will then join the 171 who received a bye into the first round.
Week 4 (first round) – the 256 teams from the qualifying round in week 3 are entered into straight knockout ties decided by the points scored in the week.
Week 5 (second round) – the 128 teams from round one in gameweek 5 are entered into straight knockout ties decided by the points scored in the gameweek.
Week 6 (third round) – the 64 winning teams from the second round are entered into straight knockout ties decided by the points scored in the gameweek.
Week 7 (fourth round) – the 32 winning teams from the third round are entered into straight knockout ties decided by the points scored in the gameweek.
Week 8 (fifth round) – the 16 winning teams from the fourth round are entered into straight knockout ties decided by the points scored in the gameweek.
Week 9 (quarter-final) – the 8 winning teams from the fifth round are entered into straight knockout ties decided by the points scored in the gameweek.
Week 10 (semi-final) – the 4 winning teams from the quarter final are entered into straight knockout ties decided by the points scored in the gameweek.
Week 11 (final) – the two remaining teams will battle for the FHL UK Cup trophy.
If a tiebreaker is required then teams will be split by the following during that game week –
- Total Goals
- Total Assists
- Total Game Winning Goals
- Goalie Wins
- Goalie Saves
- If the teams are still tied then the team with the highest score in the previous game week will be the winner.
