Player Scores
The player scores have now been updated after week 4, unless there are changes to the game sheets prior to the week change on Tuesday night. There has been changes in the last few hours so further amendments are still possible.
Our top score of the season from last week didn’t last long as Marc-Olivier Vallerand raised the bar with 73 points last week. His two goals and five assists included powerplay and short-handed points for an extra bonus. We mentioned how Sheffield were playing three times last week so it isn’t a surprise that it is their players make up six out of the top ten scorers last week. Mitchell Balmas and Colton Saucerman both had four powerplay points amongst their totals for the week to score 63 and 58 points respectively. In goal, Ben Bowns and Matt Greenfield both had a shutout last week to move into the top ten in scoring.
The curse of the top scorers continued in week 4 as last week’s top scorer Will Merchant was held scoreless. Will Marc-Olivier Vallerand owners be worried about this week’s fixtures, probably not, especially with another three games for the Steelers this week. Last weeks leading scorer overall, Troy Lajeunesse, drops all the way down to 31st after having a scoreless week. Another fantastic week from Cody Donaghey takes him to the top of the scoring leaders and he is joined by the aforementioned Vallerand on 120 points. Behind them are the two other scorers for the week with Balmas on 116 points and Saucerman on 110 points. Mark Cooper leads the Belfast Giants in scoring with 103 points so far after scoring 45 last week, and Trevor Cox leads the Cardiff forwards with 102 points overall. Matt Greenfield is the top goalie and last player to reach three figures with 100 points exactly.

League Standings
In our first big scoring week of the season there was plenty of movement in the league standings. Our new leader “Hard To Yandle” came from 24th last week to take the overall lead after scoring a huge 398.5 points. GM Drew Williams managed to pick up 126 points from captaining Mitchell Balmas. His Sheffield team mate Matt Greenfield also scored 48.5 points after shutting out Dundee on Sunday. Drew also had good scores from Trevor Cox (37), Nathan Ripley (30), Brady Norrish (28), Zach Vinnell (23) and Daniel Tedesco (23). Rounding out the top three scores in the week was Andrew Millan’s “Blocked Capitals” with 397.9 and Andrew Savage’s “Andy Savage Macho Men” with 385.3 points. They both move into the top 7 in the league standings.
“Belfast Bruins” drop one place down into second after another solid week and Karl Seed’s “Ulett The Dogs Out” have also broken the thousand points barrier with 1,010.3. Overall the top 13 teams are separate by exactly 100 points and there are 66 teams within 200 points, so it is still close at the top.
Roster Moves
There is no major signing news this week, however Anthony Petruzzelli has been released by the Guildford Flames after a poor start to the season. Last week he was on the roster for 28 teams so they will have to bring in a replacement before the deadline tomorrow night.
In terms of team selections Matt Greenfield remains the most selected even though he was dropped by one team over the week. Daniel Tedesco is two behind with 109 selections and Tyler Beskorowany now moves into third with 101 selections. The most selected player last week was Mitchell Martan after he was brought in by 13 teams to take him up to 37 overall. With 86 points overall and costing just 5.5M it seems like a sensible trade. His Manchester team mate Andreas Heier was added in by 11 GM’s last week, although he is in just 22 teams overall so could be a difference maker.
In terms of who is out it looks like GM’s have lost patience with Cole Sanford who has scored just 7 points across the last three weeks. He has been dropped by 11 GM’s but it still owned by 86 teams overall. Charlie Combs has been dropped by 9 GM’s after not playing again this week. The other 40 GM’s should think about doing the same until he returns to the Glasgow line-up.
Don’t forget that player values will be updated after week 6 with the top 10 scorers all getting their value increased.
Upcoming Fixtures
We have an early game on Wednesday night again this week with Sheffield travelling up to play Glasgow. Both these teams then play twice more over the weekend with Sheffield playing Nottingham and Fife, while Glasgow play Dundee and Belfast. In terms of captains picks someone from the in form Steelers might be the best option.
Elsewhere Manchester and Cardiff have a home-and-home series over the weekend while the struggling Guildford Flames travel up to Fife on Saturday before hosting Coventry on Sunday.
Don’t forget you can make trades for week 5 up until the trade deadline at midnight on Tuesday night.
