Player Scores
The player scores have now been updated after week 5, unless there are changes to the game sheets prior to the week change on Tuesday night.
Top scorer in the week was Sheffield’s Mikko Juusola who had 49 points thanks to his three goals and two assists. Behind him are two goalies with Matt Greenfield winning both his games while earning a shutout against Fife. His 48.3 points is just ahead of Shane Owen and his 44.6 points with Shane making an incredible 96 saves in the week. Glasgow’s Gary Haden and Belfast’s Ciaran Long round out the top five of the week after both scored 44 points.
The weekly top scorer curse has been broken after Marc-Olivier Vallerand scored 30 points this week to follow up his 73 from the previous week. He remains top in the overall scoring with his 150 points now just 0.4 points ahead of Matt Greenfield in second and Mitchell Balmas rounds out a Sheffield 1-2-3 with 137 points. Cody Donaghey had his second scoreless week to drop down to fifth behind Mark Cooper. Cody is now tied with Colton Saucerman for the top scoring defenceman.

League Standings
For the first time this season we have a gap developing at the top of the standings as Andrew Millan’s “Blocked Capitals” top score of the week took him to the top of the standings and clear by 78.5 points. If you take the same gap from second you have to go all the way down to 17th. Blocked Capitals 364.6 points was helped by captaining Matt Greenfield for 96.6 points. He also had 44 points from Gary Haden and 37 points from Ian McNulty. GM Andrew has spent a lot of his budget on his goalies and defenceman with having the top three scoring defenceman in the game on his roster. That combined with some solid mid-value forwards looks like it is working well so far.
Into second is “Tallberg Order” and “Spice on Ice” is now third. After every five weeks we have our monthly winner who claims a FHL UK branded puck. “Blocked Capitals” win this while they are in first place.
Roster Moves
With week 5 now completed the Elite League teams are now getting a better picture on how their rosters are shaping up this season. Therefore we have had quite a bit of movement over the last week so here are the incomings and outgoings.
Last week we mentioned how Anthony Petruzzelli left the Guildford Flames after a poor start to the season, and they have brought in a replacement in Austin Glover. After five years at the University of British Columbia, Austin turned professional and spent the last year in France playing for Anglet. A solid year resulted in 22 points in 33 games. He is added into the game with a 7.0M value.
There has also been a change in goal for Cardiff with Tyler Wall replacing Callum Booth. We see both players being a similar standard so there won’t be much change in playing time. Therefore Tyler is added in with a 7.0M value. Elsewhere with Charlie Combs still out Glasgow have brought in another forward with Reid Petryk making the move to Scotland. He arrives with some good experience in the AHL with three productive seasons from 2015-18. This would generally mean a high value, however the last three seasons in Norway have seen a drop in production, so he is added into the game with a 7.5M value.
In terms of team selections Matt Greenfield and Daniel Tedesco were tied with 113 selections last week, however those who had Tedesco in their teams will be disappointed to see him not icing due to injury. The question is how long is Tedesco likely to be out and if you need to trade him out of your team? Greenfield however had another good week with 48.3 points which was good enough for second in the week.
Mitchell Balmas was brought in by 18 GM’s last week but is still only owned by 35 teams overall. After another solid 21 points in week 5 he might continue his upward trend in terms of selections. After being our joint top scorer overall, Cody Donaghey was brought in by 16 more teams for week 5 but was scoreless across his two games.
In terms of who is out it looks like GM’s have lost patience with Patrick Watling after he was dropped by 12 GM’s, however that turned out to be a mistake as he scored 40 points to finish sixth in the week. Evan Mosey owners have also picked up on his injuries as he was traded out by 9 GM’s and Cole Sanford has now been traded out by 17 teams over the last two weeks. Will another scoreless week result in more teams bringing in a replacement?
Don’t forget that player values will be updated after this week with the top 10 scorers all getting their value increased.
