Player Scores
The player scores have now been updated after week 15, unless there are changes to the game sheets prior to the week change on Tuesday night.
With a lot of games this week we had plenty of high scores and it is Marcus Crawford who extends his overall lead in the fantasy point scores with 66 points over the week. His six assists were boosted by having two on the powerplay. Sheffield’s Mitchell Balmas was a close second with 64 points and Guildford’s Eamon McAdam was the top goalie of the week with 62.3 points. He had one shutout amongst his three wins in what was a strong week for the Flames. Other notables during the week was Austin Glover having seven assists for Guildford (only owned by two teams), and both Cole Sanford and Spencer Naas having four goals.
The top two in overall scoring are now breaking clear with Marcus Crawford now having 453 points, which is 52 points clear of Matt Greenfield in second. Greenfield is then another 52 points clear of Lewis Hook in third, who has picked up 108 points over the last two weeks. To highlight how important it is to load up your team with players for the form teams, there are nine Sheffield players who have scored more points than the top scoring Storm player. Also you can have five Cardiff or Guildford players before you have a Flyers player.
The link below has the updated scores.
League Standings
In our highest scoring week of the year so far our top scorer was “District 5” who scored 593 points and moved up to seventh in the league. Cole Sanford was selected as captain and scored 116 points overall and he also had his Cardiff team mates Marcus Crawford (66 points) and Trevor Cox (33 points). Up front there was also great weeks by Lewis Hook (57 points), Spencer Naas (50 points), Peter Crinella (35 points) and Patrick Watling (34 points). In the week we had 13 teams score over 500 points so congratulations to those teams who would have surely moved up the league. The rest of the top three were Karl Seed’s “Ulett The Dogs Out” and Sarah Eastwood’s “Haaralalalala”.
In the overall standings there isn’t much change as seven of the top ten all had good weeks and scored over 500 points.
As we have finished week 15 we can announce our next monthly winner as the GM whose team got the highest total score between weeks 11 and 15. This time it is Ben Millard and his team “Brexit Hockey” who scored 1977.6 points. The top four in the monthly standings are also the top four in the overall standings showing how important December is with the huge number of games.
Roster Moves
With no update last week due to the Christmas period we have a bit of catching up to do on the roster moves. The below link has an update from the over-worked FHL UK scouting team from last week. This had a list of all the players added for the start of week 15.
Since then we have had a bit of goalie movement with news that both Shane Owen and Evan Weninger have picked up injuries for Fife and Manchester respectively. In to pick up the load in Fife is former Guildford Flame Kevin Lindskoug, who had a solid 91% save percentage in his year in the UK. He’ll face a lot of pucks for a struggling Fife team and is available for 8.0M. Manchester’s replacement for Weninger is Logan Flodell who has now iced for 9 different teams over the last three seasons, which shows he has found it hard to find a starting role since turning pro. He was thrown in away to the league leading Steelers in his first game and didn’t make it to the second period giving up four goals in the process. He again is likely to face a lot of pucks in the Manchester goal for a team which has been struggling over the last month. He is added at 8.0M.
The last signing to catch up on is Fife’s Drake Pilon moving from the ECHL’s Kalamazoo Wings. In 22 games since turning professional he is still looking for his first goal and the six minutes of roughing penalties in his first game probably indicate what type of player he is. Every team needs these hard working role players but as that doesn’t give you fantasy points he is added at 4.5M.
The goalie moves are reflected in our trading activity as well. Tyler Beskorowany’s time spent with team Canada have seen his ownership drop by 6 to 82 teams overall, and those GM’s may well be the same ones who brought in Jackson Whistle who was likely to play in his place. Evan Weninger (6 teams) and Shane Owen (2 teams) have also seen their ownership drop after the recent injury news. As their replacements we have seen Matt Greenfield increase his top ownership number by four, up to 128 teams now. Alex Oldale is now also owned by 18 teams with his likely increase in playing time.
Upcoming Fixtures
Week 16 is the last holiday period week before we return to a more normal week of fixtures and it is one to stock up on your Sheffield players if you haven’t already done so. The Steelers play three times over this week with a road game in Cardiff on Wednesday before a home-and-home against Glasgow later in the week. The Clan also play three times after they play in Dundee on Wednesday.
The other two teams to play three times are the Dundee Stars, who travel to Guildford after hosting Coventry, and Cardiff who play in Manchester and at home to Belfast over the weekend. Elsewhere the Panthers are hosting the much improved Flames on Saturday before travelling up to Fife on Sunday.
Don’t forget you can make trades for week 16 up until the trade deadline at midnight on Tuesday night.
