With all games now complete for week 26 we now have our FHL UK Shield Winner for 2023/24.
Congratulations to Jeremy and “Get Pucked” who claim the trophy with a fairly comfortable win against “Bean Storm”. We said in our preview last week that we had two very different teams so it could go either way and it turned out the captains pick was vital for our winner. “Get Pucked” selected Matt Greenfield who won all three of his Sheffield starts to earn them 75.2 points on his own. Unfortunately for “Bean Storm” their captains pick Cody Donaghey was scoreless in the week so they lost out on vital double points.
“Bean Storm’s” scoring was weighted heavily towards their goalies with Ben Bowns (37.9 points) and Matt Greenfield (37.6 points) being their top two scorers for the week. They had some good contributions from Cole Sanford, Daniel Tedesco and Ben Lake but their other six forwards didn’t score a point in the week.
Our winner didn’t have much scoring up front either with Mitchell Balmas (33 points) and Cam Critchlow (17 points) being the only players to score more than 10 points. However Evan Mosey and Brien Diffley both picked up 25 points from the blueline and Will Cullen chipped in with 19 points.
