This season our scouting department will be giving an update prior to the start of each game week to give you all the information you need to get your team top of the standings.
Roster Moves
We mentioned last week about some moves in Sheffield and they have brought in Maxim Golod, who is in his 5th professional season already when he is just 24. He’s had a better than a point per game season with Tulsa in 22/23 and followed it up with a solid season in the Allsvenskan last year. With a point in his first league game with Sheffield and slotting in between Robert Dowd and Marco Vallerand, it appears as though he could put up points straight away. He is added in to the game at 8.5M. Coventry have also signed Billy Thorpe on a two way deal with Peterborough so is added in at the minimum 4.0M.
In a surprising departure Gary Haden has left Glasgow and moved to the ECHL with the Florida Everblades. Gary had two great seasons in Glasgow but hasn’t really caught fire so far this season. There are 14 GM’s who need to burn a trade to get in a replacement.
In terms of selections, Didrik Henbrant and Jake Elmer were the most traded for this week and were brought in by 7 GM’s. However both had a poor week with Elmer being held scoreless and Henbrant with 9 points. Look out for Scott Conway though as he was brought in by 6 GM’s and also had a fifth consecutive good scoring week to take him to the top of the standings with 252 points.
Hugo Roy and Otto Nieminen were the most traded out players, with Nieminen especially struggling this season in comparison to last season.
Who’s Hot?
Over the next few weeks we’ll have a look at the top scoring players from each position. This week lets look at defenceman. At the moment there are only 3 defenceman in the top 27 scorers within the game, so are they a must have within your team?
Steven Seigo | D | Glasgow Clan | 7.5M | 244 points |
Drydn Dow | D | Dundee Stars | 8.5M | 231 points |
Joe Morrow | D | Manchester Storm | 8.0M | 201 points |
Kevin Tansey | D | Sheffield Steelers | 7.5M | 182 points |
Charlie Dodero | D | Guildford Flames | 7.0M | 178 points |
Sacha Guimond | D | Sheffield Steelers | 9.5M | 177 points |
Dominic Cormier | D | Sheffield Steelers | 7.5M | 166 points |
Mike Lee | D | Belfast Giants | 9.0M | 135 points |
Josh Roach | D | Belfast Giants | 7.5M | 134 points |
Gleason Fournier | D | Cardiff Devils | 10.5M | 130 points |
Who’s Not?
In this section we will look at those players performing below their projections based on value and whose form has dropped off.
Sticking with the defenceman theme, lets look at who has hit a poor bit of form lately. Fife’s Daniel Krenzelok had a good start to the season but has had four blank game weeks out of the last five and at 6.0M you need some production. Guildford’s Travis Brown has also hit a bad run of form with only one scoring week out of the last seven. Injury wise Colton Saucerman and Mike Lee are both out at the moment
Due to injuries and European games Cardiff duo Evan Mosey and Cody Donaghey have been very up and down this season with a lot of blank scoring weeks alongside six weeks of over 20 points. One of these two or Gleason Fournier should push on to produce the points from the Cardiff blueline.
Upcoming Schedule
We have a fairly straightforward week in terms of schedule with every team playing twice. One thing to look out for is that Nottingham have a double header at home, while Glasgow have two on the road. We start in Belfast on Friday when they host the Flames, and then just after that Cardiff host the Clan. The two away teams on Friday then meet in Guildford on Saturday, while Belfast travel to Nottingham and Cardiff make the long journey to Fife.
Manchester welcome the Steelers, who play in Berlin during the week, and Dundee welcome Coventry to round out Saturday’s games. On Sunday Sheffield entertain Dundee, Nottingham welcome Manchester and Fife travel to Coventry.
