This season our scouting department will be giving an update prior to the start of each game week to give you all the information you need to get your team top of the standings.
Roster Moves
We have a few incomings and outgoings this week and lets start in Fife who we mentioned last week have problems with a number of players leaving recently. It was good news to begin with after the signing of Kieran Craig who led the team in scoring last year at Carleton University. He is added at 5.5M. That has since been followed by more bad news with Lucas Chiodo returning home on bereavement leave. He will hopefully be back in Fife shortly but he did miss the game at the weekend. It then got worse with forward Drake Pilon leaving to join Kalamazoo in the ECHL. That means 15 GM’s will need to trade him out of their team. Then, coach Tom Coolen and the club decided to part ways, with Fife naming injured forward Johnny Curran as the interim head coach. With so few players for the games at the weekend Fife then signed three players on two way deals. Rhys Edwards, Owen Dell and Josh Saunders all played minutes at the weekend but are added at 4.0M.
Elsewhere, Guildford have signed former Flame Austin Farley who scored 16 points in 25 games for them last season. He is added into the game at 6.0M. Finally, Nottingham have added another import netminder to help give Ryan Bednard a spell in the Panthers net. Jason Grande joins after starting his first professional season in Slovakia and looks set to play maybe play one in every three games. He is added into the game at 7.0M.
In terms of selections, Cardiff top scorer Josh MacDonald has gained another 8 selections over the week to take him up to 59 overall. Elijiah Barriga is next in the week with an additional 6 selections and behind him are the Coventry duo of Michael Regush and Chase Gresock with another 5 selections each.
Who’s Hot?
Lets keep it simple this week and have a look at the last three weeks to see who has scored the most points. The Panthers top line of Sam Herr, Kristoff Kontos and Mitch Fossier have gelled quickly since Fossier’s arrival. Herr leads the pack with 106 points, including 55 last week.
Sam Herr (9.0M) – Nottingham Panthers – 106 points
Mike Lee (9.0M) – Belfast Giants – 98 points
Chase Gresock (6.5M) – 97 points
Pierre-Oliver Morin (8.5M) – 92 points
Kristoff Kontos (8.0M) – 88 points
Our scout tip this week is to ride that hot Nottingham line and have at least one of the three players in.
Upcoming Schedule
We don’t have our standard set of games this week with Christmas and New year coming up so you can take advantage of some teams having more games this week. We wont go into the specifics of who is playing where but Belfast, Dundee, Fife and Glasgow all have four games in the week, with everyone else playing three times. All teams play a home-and-home over Thursday/Saturday before another home-and-home around New Year. The second leg of these are either included in this week or next week.
